Most failed driveways fail underneath, not on top. As a groundworks contractor we build the sub-base, the drainage and the edge restraints properly first — which is why our surfacing tends to still look right years later.
We lay tarmac, block paving, resin-bound and concrete surfaces across South Wales, along with kerbing, footpaths, steps and the external works that finish a new home off. Surface water has to go somewhere legal, so drainage is designed in rather than bolted on.
Sub-base and preparation
Excavation to depth, geotextile where it is needed, type 1 laid and compacted in layers, and edge restraints set before anything is surfaced.
Tarmac and resin-bound
Machine-laid and hand-laid tarmac for drives and access roads, and resin-bound surfacing where a permeable, finished look matters.
Block paving and concrete
Block paving, setts and flagged areas, plus power-floated, brushed and patterned concrete for drives, yards and hardstanding.
Kerbing and external works
Kerbing, channel drainage, footpaths, steps, retaining edges and the hard landscaping that ties a finished house into its plot.

Questions
Driveways & surfacing — common questions.
Does a new driveway need planning permission?
Generally not if it is permeable or the surface water drains to a soakaway within the property. If it drains to the highway, it usually does. We will tell you which applies.
Which surface lasts longest?
The one with the right base under it. Above that it depends on use, slope and the look you want — we will talk you through the trade-offs honestly.
Do you do commercial yards and access roads?
Yes, including hardstanding, access roads and kerbing on development and commercial sites.
Will you take on a driveway on its own?
Yes, as a standalone job as well as part of a wider groundworks package.
