Foundations are where a build is won or lost. Get the ground investigation, the design and the pour right and everything above runs to programme; get them wrong and every trade behind you pays for it. Jac Jones Construction builds foundations across South Wales for our own bespoke homes and as a standalone package for developers, main contractors and self-builders.
We set out from the engineer's drawings, dig to formation, check the bearing, place reinforcement and pour — with our own excavators, dumpers and operators rather than a chain of subcontractors. If the ground opens up differently to the ground investigation, you hear about it that day, not at the valuation.
Strip and trench-fill foundations
The standard route for most houses and extensions on reasonable ground. Set out, dug to formation, inspected, and poured with concrete to the specified mix.
Raft foundations
Where ground conditions, made ground or mining legacy make traditional footings unsuitable — common across the South Wales valleys. Designed by a structural engineer and built to that design.
Reinforced slabs and pads
Ground-bearing and suspended reinforced slabs, pad foundations, pile caps and ground beams, including power-floated finishes where the specification calls for one.
Difficult and sloping ground
Stepped foundations, deep dig, temporary works and engineered retaining structures on plots where the levels do the arguing.

Foundations — common questions.
Which foundation type will my plot need?
That is decided by the ground investigation and your structural engineer, not by us guessing. What we can do is tell you what we typically find on similar plots nearby and make sure the design is buildable before anyone breaks ground.
Do you price foundations as a standalone package?
Yes. Send us the drawings and specification and we will price the dig, the reinforcement and the pour as its own package.
Do you work on made ground or former mining land?
Yes — it is common across the valleys. It usually means a raft or an engineered solution, and it always means following the engineer's design rather than cutting the dig short.
Can you pour concrete on restricted-access sites?
Yes. We use a concrete pump where a wagon cannot reach, and size the plant to the access rather than the programme.
